who are you?
hi, my name is j. i am a musician and a multimedia artist based out of the Seattle area. i am currently the frontperson of the band glass beach and
also do most of the design for the band, often in collaboration with my fiancé daxe, who paints our album covers. daxe and i also frequently
stream together on his twitch channel.
why does your website look like this?
the internet has gotten boring. i first started using the internet sometime around the year 2000, when websites like geocities were enabling anyone willing to learn
a bit of HTML could easily create and customize their own little corner of the web. as the internet has grown, it has largely condensed into a handful of platforms
run by tech companies who deliberately incite controversy and trap users in dark patterns of endless scrolling for the sake of getting more eyes on ads, all in a bland
minimalist layout with little opportunity for personalization. this website is
designed in tribute to the bizarre folk art that is much of the early internet, and to those who try to keep the spirit of a smaller, decentralized web alive in the
